Accidental injury is a leading cause of death in children 14 and under. The Safe Kids Coalition Maricopa County (SKMC) aims to prevent accidental childhood injury. We offer educational resources through coalition members in the various cities of Maricopa County.

Safe Kids addresses the following safety issues:

Fire Safety

Pedestrian Safety

By taking some simple steps that are no cost or low-cost, you can prepare your home and family for a fire or disaster. Pedestrian injuries have become the second leading cause of unintentional deaths among children ages 5-14. Safe Kids Maricopa sponsors events that educate about walking safely.

Bicycle Safety

Vehicle Safety

Children riding their bicycles can be fun and healthy, however it can also be extremely dangerous if children are not riding their bicycles using proper protective gear and riding skills. Whether riding in cars, stopping during errands, or just being around cars at home, Safe Kids Maricopa wants you to be mindful of basic precautions.

Water Safety

Safety at Home

Drowning is the leading cause of death for Arizona’s children from ages 1-5. Safe Kids Maricopa would like to remind you there is no immunization for drowning and drowning is silent. Our home should be safe havens for all of us. You can make your home safer and free of danger – for you and the people you live with.
